Visiting The Melbourne Smile Centre

At The Melbourne Smile Centre, we aim to ensure that all your visits to us are pleasant experiences. The first visit is all about letting us get to know you, help you look at where your mouth is at, and address your oral health goals.

When you arrive for your first visit, you will be greeted by our friendly reception staff who will welcome you and make you comfortable in our waiting area. There is a menu of beverages available for you while you wait, as well as a selection of art books and magazines to peruse.

We recommend that all new patients arrive 10-15 minutes early to complete your initial paperwork. When you make your booking, we will let you know the amount of time needed for your first appointment. As a rule of thumb, initial consults take one hour.

In our dental rooms, you’ll find state of the art equipment and the best in modern technology to help you pass the time comfortably. You have the option of enjoying TV, Netflix, Prime or music to keep you entertained and relaxed during your treatments.

The First Visit

In your first visit, we will conduct a full examination of your mouth and outline your treatment goals.

We will ask you a series of questions to understand your dental history and your personal requirements from us. If you have any treatment concerns, we can discuss the options available to you. We will then take a look in your mouth to assess the dental and periodontal health.

As part of your dental health check, we will take a scan of your mouth to form a full picture of where its at that we can show you. We may recommend that you get further X-rays, or radiographs for anything that we cannot see with the naked eye. Once we gain a better picture of your mouth, we will talk through a range of tailored solutions to further address any dental concerns you may have.

Your first appointment may conclude with a teeth cleaning, polish and fluoride treatment that will help you maintain your smile. At the end of this appointment, we will then take you back to front desk to finalise any payments, paperwork and to book your future appointment if necessary. If you don’t need a follow up appointment, we recommend that you book a hygiene visit in 3 or 6 months to maintain the health of your teeth and gums as well as prevent tooth decay.

If you have any sense of unease or nervousness prior to your appointment, please do raise that with us so we can ensure we do everything we can to help you feel comfortable. We are committed to making your visits as pleasant as they can be.

After the First Visit

Following your first appointment, we will design a tailored treatment plan based on our recommendations that best suits your lifestyle and dental concerns. This will detail the timeline of treatment, number of appointments required and all the necessary costs involved. If there are alternative treatments, we will also discuss these with you.

We design what we think is the best treatment plan to your unique needs as dental professionals and experts in our field. We are also here to accommodate your preferences should you have personal reasons for wanting to pursue alternate routes. For us, dentistry is a collaborative process so your input matters to us.

Call us today or reserve a booking online for your first consult with us.
